@danielarsham

Daniel Arsham, 563k followers.

Daniel Arsham is an American painter and sculptor. As a child, a hurricane destroyed his home, and Daniel wondered about the impermanence of things and life itself. In his works, there are many white and gray shades and almost no bright colors: this can be explained by the fact that Arsham has color blindness. He works a lot with plaster, creating “fake sculptures”. For example, many of his works show a plaster imitation of a folded curtain or just a fabric protruding from the wall and at the same time hiding something: an inscription, a piece of furniture, or even a person. These volumetric outlines look very natural. Also known are the author’s “crumbling” plaster and concrete works: clothes with holes, cars with holes, body parts with deep burns, and so on.

@takashipom

Takashi Murakami, 1.6m followers.

Japanese Takashi Murakami does almost everything: takes on paintings, animation, fashion, design, graffiti, ceramics, and so on. Murakami’s works stand out for their bright colors, often with simple geometric shapes. In addition, Murakami devotes time to comics and traditional Japanese techniques such as silk-screen printing, using the “super flat” style. Actually, on Instagram, the master posts not so much his work as selfies and photos from events.

@felipepantone

Felipe Pantone, 308k followers.

The Argentinean-Spanish artist Felipe Pantone is famous for not allowing his face to be photographed, motivating it with the desire “so that people focus on his art, not his appearance.” The peculiarity of Felipe’s works is a combination of bright colors and broken geometric lines – they loved to illustrate advertising of personal computers at the dawn of their popularity. As a result, the author’s Instagram has a lot of combinations of multi-colored and black-and-white lines.

@aiww

Ai Weiwei, 555k followers.

Ai Weiwei is a Chinese artist and architect known not only for his work but also for being repeatedly persecuted by the authorities. First, the police beat Weiwei for helping to investigate corruption, which came to light during the investigation into the circumstances of the Sichuan earthquake. Then he was arrested in 2011 on suspicion of bigamy and economic crimes. Ai Weiwei creates urban sculptures and installations that can be seen in different cities worldwide, and one of the largest creations he has been involved with is the Bird’s Nest National Stadium in Beijing. Weiwei’s profile contains his works and numerous selfies, and footage of street actions and police crackdowns.

@JeffKoons

Jeff Koons, 350k followers.

The American neo-pop artist and sculptor became famous not only for his marriage to the porn star Cicciolina but, of course, for his work. The author tends to depict animals, and another of his business cards are sculptures made from huge balloons. On Insta stories, Koons posts photos of his work and pictures taken on vacation: baseball, snowboard, rodeo.

@Kaws

Brian Donnelly, 2.6m followers.

American painter and sculptor Brian Donnelly worked for Disney – perhaps that’s why he established himself as a cartoonist. Brian used street advertising on stands, lightboxes, and telephone booths as canvases: the photos’ characters replaced their faces with drawn skulls with bones and crosses instead of eyes. In this way, he subverted the importance of brands. And this approach, on the contrary, attracted other brands to him, and Brian managed to create collaborations for MTV, Nike, Uniqlo. He also painted the cover for Kanye West’s album. The artist’s profile is filled with pictures of the “seated companion” figurine and its copies. The original, by the way, was sold at auction for 321 thousand dollars.

@obeygiant

Shepard Fairey, 1.6m followers.

What he’s known for: You’ve seen at least one work of this American artist and designer. Shepard drew a stylized portrait of the French wrestler André Russimoff, signed it Obey (obey), and then began using a bunch of words Obey Giant (obey the giant) as a pseudonym. And the work you’ve seen is a pop art poster with Barack Obama and the caption Hope (“hope”), which Shepard created during the election campaign of the future president. The documentary Obey Giant was shot about the Fairies. In the artist’s Instagram, there is a photo of graffiti and posters made typical of the Fairy with an abundance of yellow, red, and blue stripes radiating out in rays.

@banksy

Nobody knows who it is, 6.7m followers.

British master of street art, practical jokes, and provocations – the whole world knows his work, but so far, no one has been able to reveal the artist’s incognito. Nevertheless, the Briton’s acutely social works are highly valued – and in the literal sense: Banksy’s works were sold at auction, and at that time, he made fun and contrived to cut a picture that had just been auctioned off remotely. By the way, Banksy’s auction record is £ 9.9 million.
