The Center for Contemporary Art is not just a museum. One of its main features is its multifunctionality, which manifests itself in the active interaction of the museum and exhibition part with scientific and educational programs.
From the very first days of its existence, the formation of an art collection began, which continues to this day. The collection includes works by contemporary artists, both famous and beginners. The main array is made up of works of the 1990-2000s: painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, video art, documentation of performances. It is planned to create a permanent exhibition on the basis of the collection.
The collection currently serves as a source for numerous exhibitions. The center specializes in holding collective thematic shows and small retrospectives.
For ten years, she has been carrying out a large-scale project – a competition of contemporary visual art, aimed at supporting artists and contributing to the placement of dominants in the assessment of contemporary culture and the popularization of young art. Within the framework of the competition, exhibitions of nominees, lectures and discussions of topical problems of art are held.
Much attention is paid to educational events that involve contact with the viewer. Lectures, discussions, master classes, meetings with artists, creative evenings, video and film screenings, and performances are constantly held. Often they are held within the framework of one of the programs dedicated to the research of specific issues of contemporary art.
Active interaction with the viewer continues in creative studios for children and adults, inviting the visitor to try himself in the role of a creator, immerse himself in new visual art, and take a different look at artistic practices.
